Hechingen Citizens’ Office – Complete Renovation of the Former Hofapotheke

The former court pharmacy on Hechingen’s market square—a historic building dating from around 1800—was converted into a modern administrative building as part of an extensive renovation project. Today, the ground floor houses the Hechingen City Office, the upper floors contain administrative offices, and the attic features a conference room. The renovation focused on combining the building’s historic structure with contemporary technology. Heating is provided sustainably via geothermal energy and underfloor and wall heating systems.

Solid Strip Parquet in oak was installed over an area of approximately 446 m² in a classic Herringbone pattern, complementing the building’s historic character. After several sanding passes, the surface was treated with hard wax oil, preparing it for long-lasting, high-quality use in a public space. The overall look was rounded out by carefully executed edge trim work spanning approximately 414 running meters, as well as the installation of solid wood moldings in oiled oak. Precise cuts and the seamless integration of thresholds and electrical outlet covers resulted in a cohesive overall look, both in terms of craftsmanship and aesthetics, befitting a historic preservation project in downtown Hechingen.
